Begin the day exploring the highlights of the city. Visit the Independence Palace, a historic landmark with an important role in Vietnam’s modern history. Continue to the Central Post Office, a beautiful example of colonial architecture with intricate bas-reliefs, and Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, an iconic Catholic church dating back to the colonial era.

In the afternoon, visit the War Remnants Museum, where exhibits and photographs document key events of the war and the global movement for peace. If time permits, enjoy a stroll through Ben Thanh Market to experience the vibrant local life. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

After breakfast, depart for Tay Ninh to visit the Cao Dai Temple, famous for its colorful architecture and the unique noon ceremony attended by devotees. Lunch at a local restaurant (not included).

In the afternoon, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive underground network built and used by Vietnamese soldiers during the war. Learn about the tunnels’ strategic role and the resilience of those who lived and fought here. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, head to Cai Be for a boat trip along the river to Tan Phong Islet. Take a rowing boat through narrow canals for about 20–25 minutes to observe daily life and lush orchards. Savor tropical fruits and enjoy traditional folk music in a garden setting.

Visit Phu Chau Pagoda or Cai Be Church, then explore a traditional handicraft village to see popcorn making, rice paper production, honey farming, and coconut candy making. Taste local specialties and enjoy a cup of honey tea. Continue cruising to Dong Hoa Hiep Village to visit a traditional Southern Vietnamese house recognized by UNESCO, such as Mr. Kiet’s ancient home or Mr. Ba Duc’s colonial house. Lunch will be served at a traditional or garden house.

Return to Cai Be and continue the drive to Long Xuyen via Sa Dec. Along the way, visit Kien An Cung Pagodaand Huynh Thuy Le’s house, featured in Marguerite Duras’s novel The Lover. Explore Sa Dec Market, known for its abundance of fruits, vegetables, and fish. Overnight in Long Xuyen.

In the morning, visit the floating market and floating village in Long Xuyen, offering an authentic glimpse into life on a small tributary of the Mekong River. Take a boat to Cu Lao Ong Ho Island, home to a small museum dedicated to President Ton Duc Thang. Enjoy a leisurely bike ride around the island’s peaceful landscapes.

Continue to Chau Doc. On arrival, visit Chau Doc Market, then enjoy a boat trip to the floating fish village and Cham village. Transfer to Tra Su Nature Reserve, a biodiverse wetland with a unique cajuput forest and a variety of bird species.

Return to Chau Doc to explore Sam Mountain (287 m) with its colorful temples and pagodas, including Xu Lady Pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau Temple, and Tay An Pagoda. For sweeping views of the Vietnam–Cambodia border, walk up to the summit or take a motorbike taxi (at your own expense). Overnight in Chau Doc.
